Snowmobile collides with logging truck

Koski’s Korners in Champion was the scene of a personal injury accident Wednesday afternoon involving a logging truck and a snowmobile. An officer from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources was first to the crash. He tended to the man who had been operating the snowmobile. He was unconscious but breathing and with a pulse. Deputies from the Michigan State Police – Negaunee Post also responded. The man was able to regain consciousness but had to be taken to the ICU at UP Health Systems Marquette for continued treatment. The collision occurred at approximately 4 PM.

In additional news from MSP in Negaunee, Sergeant Mark Giannunzio has been promoted to Lieutenant and Assistant Post Commander and Eighth District Public Information Officer. He will begin his new duties on Sunday. Giannunzio has served at various Upper Peninsula posts during his tenure with the force.
