Two people arrested for selling meth throughout Copper Country

On Friday, March 12th, troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office arrested one man and one woman for selling methamphetamine throughout the area. Both are thought to have distributed the narcotic in Houghton, Baraga, and Keweenaw Counties.

30-year-old Joe Julio of Hancock has already been arraigned in 97th District Court after being charged with five counts of Delivery of Methamphetamine. He had been investigated by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) for six months before arrests were made.

A 35-year-old woman from Hubbell has not had her identity released yet. She is subject to three felony counts and will be arraigned on March 25th after posting a $10,000 bond. She had been under investigation for three months. Each felony count carries a potential penalty of 20 years in prison, both for the woman and Julio.
