Stanton Township superintendent gets top spot at CCISD

The Copper Country Intermediate School District has announced the replacement for retiring superintendent George Stockero. Jim Rautiola will slide from the top post at Stanton Township schools to the same role at the CCISD. A vote was taken at a special meeting of the board of education Friday morning.

Rautiola and another candidate were locked in a close race following group interviews and the first vote by board members. There was one absence on Friday, April 9th, which led to the 3-3 deadlock. Rautiola is a graduate of Northern Michigan University and has had experience with the Hancock and Lake Linden districts, plus his work in Stanton Township.

Stockero officially steps down on June 30th.
