Hancock Beach Dock to be Removed

For those who had fun using the beach dock in Hancock this past summer, say your final goodbyes to the popular hot spot. The Hancock City Council has decided to remove the entire dock and cribs which will cost a little over $14,000. City Manager Glen Anderson says the council needed to take action soon on the potential safety hazard.

Anderson says the city hopes to have the removal done before the start of the summer season this year. He adds that installing a new dock could take a few years and the council did take into consideration a temporary fix in the meantime.

The city would apply for grants for the new dock, which would allow them to be eligible to receive 75% of the funding needed.
