Mattila steps down as Stanton Township Supervisor

The Stanton Township Board of Trustees is tasked with replacing John Mattila as supervisor after he resigned at a meeting earlier this week. A controversial wind farm proposal has heated up in recent months, but Mattila said that was not a factor in his decision.

I want to let you know this started before the windmill stuff all came about. This is just something I have to do. Stanton Township Board, I am writing to inform you that as of July 8th, 2021 I will be resigning my position as Stanton Township supervisor. For medical reasons, I need to resign.

Mattila has served as supervisor since last year. His resignation was accepted, with regret. The town board has the right to select his replacement until the end of the current term.
