Car Stuck in Snow in Baraga County

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post were called to a snowmobile trail early Sunday morning after receiving a broken up 911 call. Upon arriving on the scene, Troopers found two males in a car stuck in the snow. Police say that both males were highly intoxicated. They had been stuck on the trail for more than three hours. The 24-year-old driver was arrested for OWI and lodged in the Baraga County Jail. The passenger was transported to a residence by the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police. Troopers also learned that there was a third intoxicated male occupant in the car, who wondered away from the vehicle. They followed his tracks in the snow for 1.5 miles from the original site, where he was laying in the snow. Police found that he had walked more than 10 miles in tennis shoes, jeans, and a hooded sweatshirt in six degree weather. He refused medical treatment and was transported to a residence in Baraga.
