Food Safety Program at Little Brothers

A special program is underway at Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly. Through a grant from the Keweenaw Community Foundation’s Portage Community Health Endowment, Little Brothers has launched its “Serve It Up Safely” food safety program. Program Director Carol Korpela says with all the meals they prepare, it was necessary to be able to provide certification for those who serve the food.

The program allows Little Brothers to train and certify 34 volunteers and staff through the Health Department, and so far they have 21 people already cerfified. Korpela adds that this program is very important to the services that Little Brothers offers.

Anyone interested in participating in the program is asked to contact the Little Brothers office in Hancock.
