Alcohol leads to 3-car crash

Three vehicles were involved in an accident and one person went to the hospital after an impaired driver went through the intersection of M-26 and Sharon Avenue on a red light. The crash occurred Wednesday night at 8:00.

The offending vehicle was heading north on Memorial Drive as he continued into the intersection. It was driven by a 24-year-old Lake Linden man who had to be taken to UP Health System – Portage for treatment. The other drivers sustained no injuries.

The accident remains under investigation, but alcohol has been determined to be a factor. Michigan Tech Public Safety and the Hancock Police Department assisted on scene.
