Missing man found Saturday morning

In the early hours of Saturday, around 1:15, Houghton County Sheriff’s personnel responded to a call about a hunter who had not returned from the field. The man lives on South Sidnaw Road in Duncan Township and is 58 years old.

Deputies were able to triangulate the man’s location through his cellphone and the OnStar system in his vehicle. He was found after an hour’s search.

Assisting were the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community K-9, and the MSP Negaunee Regional Communication Center. The man is in excellent health.

The incident highlights the importance of letting family and close associates know when you intend to spend time outdoors. Telling others of where you’re going and when you expect to be back can provide law enforcement with crucial information at a time when locating you quickly may prove the difference in saving your life.
