MDOT Heads to YouTube to “Myth-bust”

The Michigan Department of Transportation is taking to social media to “myth-bust” misconceptions about the department and the condition of state roads. New “Reality Check” videos are being posted on You Tube. One of the videos responds to claims that Michigan’s roads are not in bad of shape and more money for roadwork can wait. M-DOT says funding is needed badly for the state’s roads and bridges because they are deteriorating. A second video dismisses claims the state does not use enough salt in the winter to keep roads clear. State Transportation Director Kirk Steudle says getting these myths and rumors cleared up is an important step to having a logical and open discussion about the real problems facing Michigan’s transportation infrastructure.
