COVID-19 Cases Rise, but Remain Low

COVID-19 case numbers nearly doubled in our region over the past week, but still remain very low. Forty new cases were confirmed, with 24 of those in Houghton County. Twenty-one cases had been confirmed in the previous week. No COVID-related deaths were registered.

Official numbers are probably low, since cases confirmed though home tests are frequently not reported.

The trend mirrors what’s happening across the state, where diagnoses this week were 31 percent higher than last week, and 56 percent higher than two weeks ago. Overall, though, numbers still remain far below where they were early this year.
