Houghton Council Introduces Parking Ordinance Change

At a low-key Houghton City Council meeting last night, councilors voted to advance a slight change to the parking enforcement code. The adjustment will allow the council to confirm future parking fee changes as a resolution, instead of as a full ordinance. Officials anticipate that will allow more flexibility as the city adapts to life without the big parking deck.

The ordinance change was introduced last night. A public hearing will be held before the council’s regular meeting on August 10.

No actual changes to the city’s current parking fees have been proposed.
