Fallen Firefighter’s Body Returns Home

The body of a Toivola native killed while fighting a wildfire in Oregon was returned to the Copper Country Saturday evening. 

Twenty-seven-year-old Collin Hagan died when he was struck by a falling tree on Wednesday. He was working with the Craig Interagency Hotshots Unit from Craig, Colorado, at the Big Swamp fire in the Willamette National Forest.

A number of Copper Country fire departments turned out to escort his body from the Houghton County Memorial Airport to the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock.

Funeral details have not yet been announced.
