Houghton County Board to Consider Environmental Health Code, Dark Store Legislation Support

The Houghton County Board of Commissioners will consider the proposed revised regional environmental health code at its meeting this afternoon.

Houghton commissioners will also discuss endorsing the McBroom legislation that would cut off the so-called “dark store” loophole. The city of Houghton is currently in a legal battle with Walmart, which wants its property taxes cut by 60 percent, retroactive six years.

The board will also continue discussions about how to spend the remainder of its American Rescue Plan Act money.

Today’s meeting begins at 4:00 in the commission room at the county building. To see the agenda and related documents, click here.
