Michigan Tech’s Health Research Institute member Paul Goetsch has been recognized with a National Science Foundation CAREER Award.
He focuses on cancer biology, and works to understand what defines cell identity and how to inspire students to pursue research.
Goetsch’s project focuses on preparing Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURE) students to study how a cell in the body stays as, and reproduces as, specific cells by using a genetic complex found in microscopic roundworms. The project is slated for more than $1 million in funding support over five years.
