Houghton Seeks Residents for the Charter and Study Commission

The city of Houghton seeks residents to actively participate in reviewing the city charter. Houghton will seek five city residents who will meet throughout 2024 to form a City of Houghton Charter and Study Commission. The goal of the commission is to make recommendations to the city council about potential amendments to the city charter. Any residents interested in assisting the city in reviewing Houghton’s charter should apply by January 3rd, 2024. The city council will look to approve the mayor’s appointments during the council’s January meeting. Applications and more information about the charter and study commission can be found on the city of Houghton website. Anyone with questions about the commission should contact city clerk Ann Vollrath, at 906-483-4644 or e-mail ann.vollrath@cityofhoughton.com.
