Houghton has accepted Anderson and Tackman’s work on the city’s 2023 audit. Anderson, Tackman, and Company have worked with the city over several years to submit Houghton’s annual audit to the state of Michigan.
“Becomes thereafter it is submitted to the state, the first meeting in January the council will accept the audit for the previous year. And if you go through this. The key takeaway is it’s a pretty boring audit. Which is the way you like them.” – Eric Waara, City Manager, City of Houghton
City manager Eric Waara added that the city’s tax base continues to climb up, and in general, the city’s funds are trending upward. He also noted that the city has been able to retain more grant money for projects and programs than other municipalities of a similar size in the state. Additional action items approved by the city council dealt with the city’s transit fund and approving the 2024 -25 transit budget.
