Houghton Man Killed in Truck Mishap

A 48-year-old Houghton man was killed this morning when an unoccupied dump truck rolled over him at the Houghton City Public Works Garage. The accident occurred around 7:20. Sharon Avenue was closed to traffic while first responders and investigators worked at the scene. A second victim, a 49-year-old Houghton man, was injured, and was taken to U.P. Health System-Portage for treatment. His condition is not known. Neither victim’s identity has been released. We will update this story as information becomes available.
