18th Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby This Saturday

The Keweenaw is an incredibly popular place to fish, and residents start young.

The Calumet-Keweenaw Sportsmen’s Club has partnered with the National Park Service, Keweenaw National Historical Park, and National Park Foundation to put on their 18th annual Kid’s Fishing Derby at the Swedetown Pond.

Lunch will be served after the derby wraps up at noon.

The free event welcomes everyone, and will offer fishing equipment to borrow, free bait, and will even have volunteers that can assist in baiting hooks and removing the catch.

Registration begins at 9 am, and fishing is from 9:30 to noon. Come join the fishing fun this Saturday!
