19 Year Old Calumet Man Arrested for Stealing a Vehicle in Hancock

A 19-year-old Calumet man has been arrested for stealing a vehicle from a Hancock home. On Wednesday the Hancock police department received a call from an address on West Quincy Street for a stolen vehicle. The vehicle’s owner notified police that from security camera footage his tan 2005 Chevy Impala was taken from the area at 12:30 pm. Additionally noting that the vehicle’s keys were left inside. A be-on-the-lookout was posted when the report was made at around 6 pm.

At approximately 8:30 pm MSP troopers spotted the vehicle traveling south on M-26 in the city of Houghton. Pulling the vehicle over for a routine traffic stop. Hancock police were notified, and assisted on scene, taking a 19-year-old Calumet man into custody. The Calumet man has been lodged in the county jail pending charges and arraignment.

The vehicle was released back to the owner.
