A Former Narcotics Enforcement Officer Sentenced for Possession of Methamphetamine

A former Houghton Narcotics Enforcement Officer has been sentenced to 3 months in jail for possession of methamphetamine. On Monday, the Houghton County 12th Circuit Court handed out sentencing to Scott Monette, 55 of Chassell. He will spend 3 months in jail and serve 18 months probation under deferred sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine. Additionally, he will give up his MCOLE certification. Monette was arrested in July 2021 following an investigation. At the time of his arrest, Monette served with the Houghton City Police Department and Upset Narcotics Enforcement Team. He pled guilty to possession charges on January 3rd of this year.
