AG Nessel Warns of Weather-Related Scams

Attorney General Nessel has released a warning to UP residents in regards to recent flooding.

Weather related scams have been popping up more frequently.

She advises individuals to take a minute to process what happened, then talk to your insurance agency to help you prioritize construction. It is also important to do your research on contractors. She also advises to get everything in writing, to never pay in cash, and to never pay in full upfront.

Some scammers may say that they can fix your home right away, but only if you accept their help “right now”.

She also wants to alert drivers to beware of water damaged vehicles being sold on the used car market.
