Will Houghton County win the Georgetown University Energy Prize Competition?
The Houghton Energy Efficiency Team says they are waiting to hear from the judges if we’ve made it into the Finalist Round for the $5 million prize.
Ten communities will be picked from the 50 entries.
The final judging will be done in August with the winner anticipated to be announced in September.
New Power Tour Managing Director Melissa Davis explains what the judges will be looking at.
Since 2015, HEET has provided over 6,000 LED lightbulbs, replaced 79 refrigerators, 46 water heaters and completed 55 winterizations.
All homeowners who are SEMCO customers can still get an energy audit on your home through a program provided by Efficiency United.
Want to help make the Keweenaw more energy efficient? HEET is always looking for volunteers where you can help winterize homes, helping to keep people warm and save money.
