Area middle school shifting to remote learning

Remote learning will be the only option available to Washington Middle School students in Calumet beginning at 2 PM Wednesday through the end of the month. Mitigation efforts have not been successful so far in stemming a rising number of confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, according to an email sent to parents by Superintendent Chris Davidson.

The decision only affects grades 6-8 within the Calumet district and will remain in effect until Monday, February 1st. A ten-day quarantine period has become the norm, set by the state’s Department of Health and Human Services. Districts are responsible for conducting contact tracing when a suspected case is confirmed.
