Baraga and L’Anse Students Build a Sauna with Skills from the CTE Construction Technology Program

Just in time for National Sauna Week, Copper Country ISD CTE Construction Technology students have completed designing and building one of their own. The unique project showcases the skills students from Baraga and L’Anse high schools developed under the tutelage of CCISD CTE Instructors. To help support the CTE program’s ability to continue challenging students to push their skill set and creativity, the Construction Technology program has opened a silent auction for the student-built sauna.

It took ten students from Baraga and L’Anse schools to design, and construct the sauna during which they learned about market analysis, practiced computer-aided design, and furthered their hands-on construction skills. The 8x14x10 sauna features black asphalt roofing and LP Smartside siding. Inside students included cedar wood paneling and benches for an authentic sauna experience, and all necessary electrical and lighting components.

The minimum bid on the student project starts at 9,500 dollars. Those interested in checking the student’s handcrafted work can view the project during this Saturday’s Sauna Expo on the Quincy Green in Hancock. Anyone who would like to learn more about the silent auction rules, and more details about the CCISD CTE Construction Technology program can find more details below.
