Café Rosetta charged another $2,500

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development filed new civil contempt charges against Café Rosetta this week. That culminated in a hearing Friday afternoon at Ingham County’s 30th Circuit Court. Judge Wanda Stokes levied another fine in the amount of $2,500 against the business.

Co-Owner Amy Heikkinen appeared in person for the hearing and was able to interact with the judge face-to-face for the first time. Heikkinen personally apologized for maintaining normal operations on Friday, February 5th after the court’s contempt ruling the day before. The establishment was closed that afternoon and has remained shuttered since as Café Rosetta and MDARD work on revoking the suspension of the restaurant’s business license.
