Congressman Jack Bergman to Rejoin Budget Committee in Washington

Michigan’s first congressional district representative, Jack Bergman, has found his committee assignments for the 118th congress. Representative Bergman will return to the committees on veterans affairs and house armed services. He also rejoins the House Budget committee; he served with the budget committee previously in 2017 and 2018. Bergman additionally was named Chair of a subcommittee. He will lead the Armed Services Intelligence and Special Operations subcommittee. Congressman Bergman was reelected this past November, defeating Democrat challenger Bob Lorinser. You can find Congressman Bergman’s statements on his committee assignments below.

Rep. Bergman stated, “Serving on these three critical committees in the new Republican Majority is an honor and I’m ready to hit the ground running. We have major tasks ahead of us – we must continue to ensure the legislation we pass in the House puts our Nation first and addresses critical issues facing our District.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to rejoin the Budget Committee in this new Congress. It’s imperative Congress puts forth a budget that brings our out-of-control spending back to reality and begins to rein in the reckless spending spree Congress has been on over recent years and a national debt that exceeds the entirety of our Nation’s economy.

“I look forward to continuing my work on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, as I seek to help strengthen our National security and ensure once that Servicemember moves on to the next stage of their life, they receive the care and benefits they’ve rightly earned in service to our Nation.”

“Our Nation is at a pivotal moment that requires serious leadership. I’m honored that Chairman Rogers has asked me to serve as the Intelligence and Special Operations Subcommittee Chairman on the House Armed Services Committee. As we face unprecedented threats from China, Iran, Russia, as well as many others who wish to do us harm, it’s imperative that Congress provides a steady hand on issues related to critical national intelligence, counter-terrorism operations, and our special operations warfighters.”

House Armed Services Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL), stated, “As a retired U.S. Marine Corps officer, Rep. Jack Bergman has brought crucial experienced-backed insights to the House Armed Services Committee.” Rogers continued, “Our special forces and intelligence efforts are critical to our military’s mission to keep our nation safe. As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations, Rep. Bergman will remain a valued leader on our committee – putting our national security and servicemembers first.”
