Copper Country ISD preparing for new superintendent

Tuesday’s Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education meeting marked the final evaluation for George Stockero. The superintendent is leaving on a high note, having received a “Highly Effective” rating. The board said it was particularly impressed by Stockero’s communication abilities since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are four finalists for the opening. All candidates will be interviewed on Friday, April 9th. The sessions will run between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Those up for consideration include REMC Director Mike Richardson, L’Anse Superintendent Susan Tollefson, Baraga Superintendent Richard Sarau, and Stanton Superintendent Jim Rautiola.

The Copper Country Intermediate School District is made up of public schools from Keweenaw, Houghton, and Baraga Counties.
