Copper Country Recycling Initiative Partners with Houghton County and Michigan Tech for Characterization Study at the Transfer Station

In the world of recycling nothing should go to waste. At least that is what the Copper Country Recycling Initiative hopes happens with materials brought to the Houghton County transfer station. The Copper Country Recycling Initiative has partnered with Houghton County and Michigan Tech to conduct a waste characterization study at the county transfer station next week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, volunteers with the characterization study will take samples from materials bound for the landfill. During the data collection phase, the study will determine the level of compost and recyclable materials. The data collected by Houghton County, CCRI, and Michigan Tech will aid future regional planning efforts, as well as be shared in educational materials.
