On Friday a vehicle crash in L’Anse led to one fatality. At approximately 10:15 pm October 1st, troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet post responded to a vehicle rollover on Dynamite Hill Road near Piney Road in L’Anse. 44 year old Kenneth Ripley was traveling west on dynamite hill road when he lost control of his automobile and could not take the curve safely.

The roads were dry, and until the investigation is completed there’s not much we can say at this time. But I did put in there that alcohol and speed are believed to be a factor. – Sargent Larsen

Ripley’s car slide sideways down a hill into a ditch before rolling over. Ripley was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Michigan State Police were assisted by the L’Anse Village Police Department, Bay Ambulance.
