Finnish Consul General Gives Speech At Finlandia Commencement

Sisu is the key to earning a degree at Finlandia University and the theme of Sunday’s commencement ceremonies.

The commencement address was delivered by Manu Virtamo, Consul General of Finland to New York.

The student speaker was Biology major Matthew McLaughlin, who graduated summa cum laude and was just commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.

The graduates also heard from alumnus Jordan Siegler, who graduated in 2009 and now works for Wisconsin Public Television.

Over four dozen graduates received degrees at the ceremony.
