GM Donates $110,000 To Support MTU Programs & Diversity

General Motors is helping Michigan Tech not only prepare some of the most innovative minds in the industry, but also making sure those minds are as diverse as the customers they serve.

GM presented the university with a check for $110,000 to support several student activities with an emphasis on promoting diversity.

Michigan Tech has a long standing relationship with the automaker, dating back as early as 1940.

More Tech alumni have been employed by GM than any other company.

The GM Foundation contributes $3 million a year to schools around the United States to promote STEM education.

To compete on the world stage, GM needs to make sure they have access to the best talent the world has to offer.

Director of Global Facilities, GM North America, Steven Tomaszewski said, “General Motors is a global company so the diverse workforce that we bring in, we’re looking for the brightest minds around the world to transform the automotive industry and that’s why we come here to Michigan Tech.”

The money will support programs such as the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Ride The Waves, Mindtrekkers and Michigan Tech student enterprises.
