Gogebic Community College to Award 174 Degrees and Certificates During 90th Commencement Ceremony

Finally at the end of a school year. Finally at the end of a semester. Now at the end of the week, Gogebic Community College will host the college’s 90th commencement ceremony. In 2024 Gogebic Community College will award 174 degrees and certificates, including 46 Associate of Arts, 50 Associate of Applied Science, 15 Associate of Applied Business, 5 Associate of Applied Technology, and 6 Associate of science degrees. The graduating class includes 28 students receiving high honors, achieving a grade point average above 3.75. 37 students will also graduate with honors finishing their academic careers at GCC with a GPA above 3.5.

Laurium Village Manager Ian Lewis will deliver the college’s commencement address. Lewis attended Gogebic Community College before earning a Juris Doctorate at Michigan State, and his bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University. In his position serving the Village of Laurium, Lewis has become the youngest municipal manager in the state’s history.

The 2024 graduation ceremony will also be the first that new college president Chris Patritto will preside over.

Gogebic Community College will help the 2024 class turn the page by turning their tassels on Friday in the Lindquist Student and Conference Center Gymnasium. The Gogebic Range Concert Band led by Anthony Hanson Lynn will produce music for the ceremony.

Those interested in Gogebic Community College’s commencement ceremony but are unable to attend in person will find a stream link online. The ceremony will begin at 5 pm on Friday. Congratulations to this year’s graduates.
