Hancock Middle School Students Learn about Earth’s Water

Happy World Water Day! Yesterday students at Hancock Middle School learned just how precious water is in the world.  Claire Fidler, an MTU sustainability student, led the presentation, quizzing students on what place water can be found most. She said that she enjoys showing kids how water and sustainability come together.

At the end of the day, its a great career field for the kids. And it is very important to learn about it from a young age. Because then they’re incorporating that thought process and that value system into their everyday thinking. – Clare Fidler, MTU Student

Fidler hopes the students she’s met at Hancock, Chassell and Lake Linden take away new knowledge and a curiosity for the world around them.  Water is a resource we have plenty of around the Upper Peninsula, but other regions of the world are not so lucky.  Ground water makes up the largest amount of readily available drinking water, making protecting the resource deep below the ground a top priority for many people around the world.
