Hancock Planning Commission to Consider Grant Letter of Support

Hancock’s Planning Commission will consider a letter of support for the city’s grant application with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The city of Hancock has plans to apply for the rural Readiness grant program. The rural readiness grant program with MDARD provides rural communities with up 50,000 dollars in funding for collaborative planning and capacity initiatives.

Earlier in the month WUPPDR was awarded a Rural Readiness Grant from the state department to create a nonprofit community development corporation in the L’Anse area. WUPPDR’s goal with that project will help prepare L’Anse township and the village of L’Anse to ready land for housing developments. WUPPDR was one of 21 organizations awarded the grant in the state out of 90 total applications.

Hancock’s planning commission will also hear updates from the city manager about various other projects and happenings in the city. Hancock’s planning commission meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers.
