Hancock Receives $969,000 to Further Prepare the Hancock Business and Technology Park from MEDC

The city of Hancock will receive close to a million dollars for further development of the Hancock Business and Technology Park from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

Earlier this week MEDC announced it will support 87.5 million dollars in grant funding to accelerate site readiness at 18 project locations across the state. The Hancock Business and Technology Park is the only project to receive funds located in the Upper Peninsula. Hancock will receive a total of 969,352 dollars. The grant funds will help the city complete necessary infrastructure improvements, increase the capacity of utilities, and remove barriers to shovel-creating shovel-ready sites. Hancock City manager Mary Babcock thanked MEDC for its continued support of the Hancock Business and Technology Park, adding that the funds will greatly help the city prepare the sites for potential developers later in the year after work is completed.

Several other projects awarded funds from the MEDC’s Strategic Site Readiness Grant program Brownfield sites. All of which are located downstate. Those interested in learning more about the SSR program with MEDC and the more than 900,000 dollars received by the city of Hancock can find more details here.
