Juan Marin Pleads Guilty to a High Court Misdemeanor

One Man from a July Multi Agency Sex Offender sting operation has entered a plea of guilty to attempting to accost a child for immoral purposes. Juan Marin, 47 years old of Hancock, has entered a guilty plea to a high court misdemeanor charge as a part of a plea agreement. In exchange for his guilty plea, Marin’s four felony charges were dismissed; child sexual abuse activity, use of a computer to commit child sexual abuse activity, accosting a child for immoral purposes, and use of a computer to commit a crime. The high court misdemeanor charge carries up to a two-year sentence. He will be credited with time served and must register as a sex offender. Marin will receive sentencing within 30 days.

Marin was arrested in the same sting operation that picked up two other Houghton County men in July on similar charges. 38-year-old Peter Hallesy of Kearsarge is scheduled for sentencing and a motion hearing tomorrow. Trenton Kyllonen 36 years old of Lake Linden will have his next court date placed on the January trial docket.
