Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Holds General Election Tomorrow

The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community will hold a general election tomorrow. Polls will open at 10 am and close at 6 pm. Tribe members planning to cast their vote in the Baraga district will vote at the Ojibwa Senior Center. Voters in the L’Anse district will cast votes at the Zeba Hall.

Baraga district voters will decide between four candidates for the two open seats. Candidates in the race include Alden Connor and Zelina Pittsley-Huhta, and incumbents Doreen Blakker and Robert Curtis.

L’Anse Votes will also select from four candidates for two seats. Candidates in the L’Anse vote include, and Serene Gauthier, Dale Goodreau, and Sam Loonsfoot, and incumbent Toni Minton.

All KBIC members will decide on a single associate judge position between Tashina Lee Emery and Mark Smith.
