Keweenaw Brewfest Returns to Houghton, and Will Support the Portage Lake District Library

The weather looks great for fun day to spend on the Houghton Pier at the return of Keweenaw Brewfest. Presented by the Rotary club of Houghton, the tasting event benefits the Portage Lake District Library, new teen reader space. As a member of the international rotary, Houghton’s club will take any chance to help support programs and projects that further education in communities.

Keweenaw Brewfest will have twenty three total tables, with each offering various samples of brand favorites from big name brands in the state of Michigan, and local craft brewers. But brewfest isn’t just about celebrating Michigan’s beer industry. Some tables will offer seltzers, ciders, and a wine table.

“Its definitely not just beer, there’s 270 or more adult beverages per-say. SO everything from ciders, to seltzers, to even some canned cocktails. So if folks are really interested our menu is live on the Keweenaw Brewfest website. and you know hydration on a warm day is also something we’ll be looking out for. But the city of Houghton has been a great partner in helping us to plan this event, and the logistics of putting it on. “ – Eli Karttunen, President, Rotary Club of Houghton

Houghton Rotary will emphasis safety like with any event of this nature. With the forecast trending toward the warmer side, attendees should include a glass of water every so often. There will also be food truck available for those looking for a snack. Chapter President Eli Kattirenun also suggest carpooling to the event if possible, or enjoying a nice walk to the pier.

As with other events this summer parking near the Brewfest may be difficult. Karttunen noted that Dee Stadim parking and the temporary lots are both available. For those planning to stay for the whole event, it might be best to park at the all day lot, such as behind the chamber of commerce. The rotary highly suggests making a plans ahead of time, like setting up plans with a friend to pick you up from the event.

Keweenaw Brewfest starts at1 pm tomorrow. Online tickets sales end at noon today. Please Drink Responsibility. All those attending Keweenaw Brewfest must by 21 years old or older, please have you I.D. available at the door. Additionally for those that miss the noon deadline to purchase tickets, Keweenaw Brewfest will sell tickets at the door for a slightly higher charge.
