Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce announces Bridgefest 2022

Bridgefest 2022 is a go, with Keweenaw Chevrolet as the title sponsor. The announcement was made Monday via press release from the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce. The Copper Country staple will once again take place over Fathers Day weekend and include traditional favorites like the parade and fireworks over the Portage Canal.

Bridgefest has been absent from the summer event landscape for two years due to COVID-19, and the uncertainty surrounding potential pandemic restrictions. Keweenaw Chevrolet will actively host the Touch A Truck event. Parents can show off the inside of a police car to young children, among other family friendly activities. There will also be carnival food for sale. A classic car show is another potential favorite for the whole family.

Keweenaw Chevrolet Buick GMC General Manager Brandon Schlief says, “We’re proud to become partners on such an important festival, giving back to the community is something that is very important to us, and after the last few cancellations we need a celebration.”

Food and other wares will also be available at Kestner Waterfront Park, courtesy of area vendors. They can submit application fees to reserve their place at the Bridgefest website.

The festival celebrates the dedication of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, one of the largest structures of its kind in the country.
