Little Brothers Encourages Volunteers to Share a Meal with Seniors this Christmas

It is finally the Christmas weekend, and many travelers around the state will take to the roads to see family and friends over the next few days. While the season is always filled fun and great people, this time of the year can be lonely for many as well. To help make the holidays a warm delightful occasion, Little Brothers Friends of the elderly has shared a meal with seniors and volunteers for many years. The non profit has six on site meal locations and more delivery only sites.

“So our volunteers who help with the sit down dinners, are really encouraged to sit and eat with our elderly guests. It’s really a family atmosphere. And I know through the years that relationships have been built at these dinners specifically. Which I think is really great, elderly friends come, hoping to see volunteers, volunteers sign up for the same site they’ve been at before. Because they’re hoping to see an elderly friend that they met the last time or have gotten to know through the years.” – Cathy Cass-Aten, Executive Director, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly

Seniors who want to enjoy their meal from the comfort of home should call ahead of time, so that Little Brothers can be fully prepared to deliver meals during the winter storm. Little Brothers still pans to host their on site meal locations on Christmas day. Please keep track of their facebook page and our radio stations (97.7 fm, 102.3 fm, 99.3 fm, 1400 am) if their plans do change. Volunteers wishing to lend a hand at a meal site or deliver meals to seniors should register online or call the LBFE Hancock office for more details at 906 482 6944.
