Mackinac Bridge Authority meeting in Houghton next week

It’s a homecoming of sorts for the Mackinac Bridge Authority next Thursday. Several staff and at least one board member count themselves as alumni of Michigan Tech, and they’ll convene their next meeting on the campus at the Great Lakes Research Center in Conference Rooms 201 and 202.

MDOT spokesman James Lake says the organization likes to have their fall gathering on the road.

Because the Mackinac Bridge is such a statewide icon, they do move their meetings around. Usually it’s this fall meeting when they do that. They’ve been to other cities across the state, Marquette a few times in recent years.

On the agenda is “an update on the south tower painting project, planned repaving of the north viaduct section of the bridge, and the bridge’s driver assistance and vehicle transport services.”

The meeting begins at 9:00 AM October 14th.
