Michigan Tech Holds Free Speech Forum on Campus

Earlier in the year Michigan Tech University was recognized by College Pulse and FIRE survey as the best college in the country for free speech. Speech on college campuses has become a hot-button topic among students, academics, and the public alike. Especially as social media debate shows have taken off and student organizations have offered free speech demonstrations in recent years. Later today the university will hold a Free Speech Forum following student concerns over hate speech appearing at a student organization’s campus activity. The University’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion encourages the campus community to attend a moderated forum on free speech on campus. The forum will begin at 5 pm in Fisher Hall room 135. Those with questions about the forum should contact Nancy Langston of the social sciences department.
