Michigan Tech Names Mariana Nakashima as a Chair Coordinator of the Parade of Nations

Michigan Tech names a new Co-chair coordinator of the university’s annual Parade of Nations. Mariana Nakashima has been named the Co-chair coordinator for the 2024 Parade of Nations this upcoming fall. Nakashima serves as a senior administrative assistant and Designated School Official for International Programs and Services at Michigan Tech. Over the past three years, she has become very involved in the Parade of Nations organization. She says she looks forward to taking on the responsibility of the parade and continuing to bring the long-standing tradition to the local community.

The Parade of Nations each year celebrates the university’s diverse and unique cultures that gather in the Keweenaw Peninsula to further their education, as well as celebrates the local region’s rich cultural heritage and diversity that built the Copper Country. The Parade of Nations typically returns to the area around the start of the fall semester on campus, starting with a parade through Hancock and Houghton and followed by cultural events at the Dee Stadium. The Parade of Nations in 2024 will take place on September 21st.
