MSHDA Launches Tribal Nations Housing Development Assistance Program

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority announces the launch of the Tribal Nations Housing Development Assistance Program. Late last week MSHDA announced the start of a new housing assistance program designed to build upon the existing tribal nation’s housing capacity and provide resources to support needs to develop affordable housing projects that meet the nation’s unique needs. The program is supported by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis through a 3 million dollar grant. The grant funds will provide flexible funding to remove barriers to participation cover critical pre-development expenses and bridge project financing gaps. MSHDA CEO and Executive Director Amy Hovey says that the program will expand funding support and resources for Michigan’s sovereign tribal nations to expand affordable housing capacity within communities.
