UPDATE (Wednesday evening): The alleged murderer and his victim in Monday’s incident have been identified by the Michigan State Police. A copy of the full statement:
“The suspect in the homicide was arraigned today in the 97th District Court. Isaiah Strieter, 18 years old, from the Houghton/Hancock area, was arraigned on open murder charges in the death of 38 year old Ashlee Harvey, also from the Houghton/Hancock area. The investigation is on-going and no further details will be released at this time.“
ORIGINAL: MSP Calumet is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon in Franklin Township. At approximately 2:20 pm on Monday, the Houghton County Sheriff arrived on scene, near Quincy Street, to find a 38 year old female deceased. The initial investigation led to the arrest of a 18 year old male, suspected of the homicide. He is sitting in the Houghton County jail awaiting arraignment. No further information has been released at this time.
