Chassell Man Hurt in Portage Township Crash

A Chassell man was treated for injuries after a Wednesday afternoon two-car crash in Portage Township.

Houghton County Sheriff’s deputies were called out around 1:50 pm.

The found that the 79-year-old Chassell man had lost control of his vehicle while towing his boat to storage, and run the stop sign on Broemer Road at the intersection of Paradise Road. As a result, he was hit by a vehicle being driven northbound on Paradise Road by a 48-year-old Ironwood man.

The Chassell man was treated at UP Health System-Portage. The sheriff’s department described his injuries as “minor.”

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Huron Town Fire and Rescue, MTU Police Department, Michigan State Police, Superior Service, and Mercy Ambulance.
