Ontonagon County Sheriff Investigating the Cause of a Fatal Semi Truck – Passenger Vehicle Accident in Ewen

Ontonagon County sheriff deputies are investigating the cause of a fatal traffic accident that occurred last Thursday in Ewen. At 8:35 pm on January 18th, the Ontonagon County Sheriff responded to a call of a head-on-head collision between a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle on M-28 east of Ewen. The 17-year-old female driver of the passenger vehicle did pass away on the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.  Ontonagon County Sheriff will lead the investigation with MSP Wakefield assisting. Other agencies to report to the scene of the accident include the MSP Calumet, MSP Accident Reconstruction, Michigan DNR, Ontonagon County Medical Examiner, SONCO Ambulance, Bruce Crossing, and Ewen fire departments, Ontonagon County Road Commission, and private tow companies. No names have been released at this time.
