Ontonagon River Flooding Shuts Down a Section of M-28

Travelers headed toward Ironwood on M-28 will be rerouted around a flooded bridge. The Michigan Department of transportation will close M-28 at the bridge over the South branch of the Ontonagon River in Ewen. Spring run off has raised the river above the roadway between Elm St and Choate Rd. Eastbound traffic will follow the detour via US – 2 and US – 45. Westbound traffic will follow a reversed detour of the same route. M-28 will only be open to traffic between US – 45 and M – 64. There is no alternative route set up for local roads, affected by the detour. The road closure will remain in place until further notice.
