Over 180 Industry-recognized Manufacturing Certificates Bestowed On Hancock Highschool Students

Hancock High school was granted an award to become a Society of Manufacturing PRIME Manufacturing Program School last spring, being one of 81 high schools nationwide operating the program at the time.

The teachers were trained, and delivered a wide variety of classes including Mechatronics, Additive Manufacturing, Robotics, Production Equipment Maintenance, and more.

Part of the program is bestowing industry-recognized certificates on students, showing that they have demonstrated competencies in areas of these areas of manufacturing expertise.

Over 50 high school students have earned over 180 certificates.

Drew Sturos received 11 certificates. Garrett Pennala received 10 certificates, and Adam Mikkola and Kirby Storm both received 9 certificates each.

Many of the students receiving these certificates are currently in grades 9 to 11 and will have 1-3 more years of school to earn more certificates.

Next years course options include Introduction to Manufacturing, Introduction to Robotics, Mechatronics, Introduction to Mechanical Drives, and more. The roster of classes will grow as the manufacturing center expands.
